PAUL MORRELL, DIRECTOR

Paul Morrell, Director


Coach Morrell brings over 25 years of championship coaching, innovation, and development to the CFA. 


Coach Morrell is currently a Physical Education teacher, and most recently was Head Lacrosse coach and Offensive Coordinator at Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven, CT.


His football coaching resume is second to none in Connecticut's football community.

Mike "CHIEF" Peterson

  • A CT all-state football and track star born and raised in New Britain, CT, Michael “Chief” Peterson is dedicated to his family and focused on motivating and helping our youth.
  • At D1 University of Rhode Island, Chief was an all conference selection and scholar athlete award winner
  • Chief was a four year letterman at New Britain High School in football and basketball
  • He holds a bachelor of arts in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. 
  • Chief has spent many seasons coaching NBHS’s football and basketball teams and is the Dean of Students at New Britain High School.
  • He has travelled the world as a poet and internationally decorated spoken word artist with appearances in Helsinki, Finland and the 2012 London Olympics and is New Britain’s first Poet Laureate
  • Mike has four children -David, Mia, Major and Storm.

Christopher Roberts

  • Chris was a full athletic scholarship football player at Southern Connecticut State University where he was a 2 year starter at QB
  • Chris led his team to the NCAA DIV II National Playoffs in 2008 and shared the NE-10 conference title in 2009. 
  • At Southern in 2008 he was named All Conference and won the Harry Jakunski Award as the area’s best college player
  • In 2008, he was named to the pre-season NCAA DIV II All American Team
  • Chris also played multiple positions including Wide Receiver, Kick Returner, and Punt Returner. He finished his career Top 5 All-time at Southern CT in Most Passes Completed, Most Passing Yards, Most Total Offense Yards, Most Passing TDs, and Highest Passing Efficiency. 
  • Chris is a Physical Education Teacher at Wilbur Cross High School and has coached the QBs/DBs for 10 years as well as being the passing game coordinator for many of them
  • Chris has also coached CT’s top QB’s in the CT HS All Star game on 3 occasions.
  • Chris was also the baseball’s varsity assistant coach for 10 years as well.
  • In High School, Chris won 2 State Championships at New Britain High, was 2004 team captain, and 2 year varsity starter at QB and FS. 
  • He was and all conference and all state selection, and was chosen in CT’s top 50 players to play against Rhode Island. 
  • At NBHS Chris threw for over 2600 yards, and 34 TD’s, ran for over 500 yards with 9TDs accumulating over 3,100 total yards at the QB position
  • Chris was also a 4 year varsity starter in baseball at NBHS where he was all conference and all state his senior year.
